Wedding Rings & Bands Platinum FAQs
Platinum is a great choice for a wedding band because it doesn't tarnish and needs very little maintenance over time. Plus, there are plenty of options available for both men and women. While traditionally a silver-white colour (the most popular wedding ring choice), it is often available in a variety of different shades. Although it's very hard-wearing and easy to clean, it's still a budget-friendly metal.
Platinum wedding bands vary in cost because of their flexibility, so what you pay will very much depend on the features you want. They can start as low as £134 for plain options and go all the way up to £13,000+ if they feature diamonds, but there are plenty of mid-range options in between.
To clean a platinum ring, simply soak it in a soapy solution of warm water and mild washing-up liquid for around half an hour. This should remove any built-up grime, but if there is some left, you could gently brush it with a small brush (such as a toothbrush) to lift this.
This is a personal choice. Unless it has sharp edges, you should be fine to wear your ring to bed, but you may wish to keep it in a safe place instead to avoid any risk of it falling off and becoming lost, especially if you're away from home. With a very durable metal like platinum, you are unlikely to encounter issues if you wear the band all of the time.
Pink on a wedding band has connotations of romance, love, creativity and tenderness, especially if a rare pink diamond is used. So, this is a romantic option that can represent true love and a marriage that is unique, just like the colour itself.
Commonly used for men’s wedding bands, the colour black can represent strength, power and bravery, oftentimes related to the power of the love represented by the ring. It can also show that the couple is dedicated to their relationship and believe their love will last the test of time.
